My laptop came installed with Windows 10, but I downgraded to Windows 7. Most all of the drivers are working alright, and I have installed all drivers provided by my manufacturer. While the USB Controller is recognized, and the chipset drivers have been installed successfully, no driver is installed for the USB controllers.
Since Windows 7 does not come with native USB drivers for common USB controllers, is there any way to find out what USB add-in controller my laptop's motherboard is using without physically opening it up? Or is there some way to retrieve the drivers without knowing? I've tried contacting my manufacturer, but they just want me to send in my pc and reinstall Win10 (they know nothing).
Note: I also can run Ubuntu through sick, and on Ubuntu, the USB works fine. Perhaps Ubuntu can give information regarding the USB controllers?

If you're getting random USB disconnects on Ryzen, check your memory timings.
EDIT: Most likely my original hypothesis is wrong. I've done more testing and USB disconnects are still happening regardless of RAM timings. Could have just been a coincidence.
EDIT 2: Wow, seems like a bunch of people are experiencing this issue as well.
EDIT 3: I am definitely seeing less USB disconnects with slower clocks and looser timings. Still happens but less frequently.
Not sure if this has been discussed or is a well known issue, so apologies if it is. Just wanted to let everyone know if you're getting frequent USB disconnects/reconnects with your Ryzen system, you might want to check your RAM timings.
I was having an odd issue where on high CPU load (Prime95 blend test, for example) or during gaming, I would begin to hear the Windows ding sound indicating that a device has been disconnected/reconnected. It would happen sporadically but pretty reliably. It became a real issue when I realized that my USB storage was the one constantly getting disconnected and reconnected.
The first hint that it could be a RAM timing issue occurred to me when I tried running the other Prime95 torture tests, which did not trigger the USB disconnect sound. I then noticed in the test description that the Prime95 blend test specifically tests a lot of RAM. I started to loosen my timings and voila, no more USB disconnects. I had to go from 2933 14-14-14-34 to 2933 14-14-14-36.
Hope this helps anyone who runs into this issue while messing with OC memory on Ryzen.
